Wild Roots Farm is a diversified, mixed vegetable farm located just outside of Troutdale, Oregon - only a 20 minute drive from Portland. We grow a wide range of staple and specialty vegetables throughout the year and our main outlets are through our CSA, the Oregon City farmers market, and wholesale to restaurants and grocers.
We are a fairly small crew that consists of farm owners Mary and Brian along with a few part-time employees and two full time employees. There are also three other farm businesses (flowers, fruit, and vegetables) on the farm, and we will work alongside/collaborate with them from time to time. We strive to create a positive, inclusive, and understanding work environment. We highly value clear communication and a passion for learning. Farming is hard work and we also want to take time to appreciate the joy of it.
Our goal in the future is to work towards collective farming - on our own farm and within our farming community. These conversations have already begun and we are excited for what the future holds - we are stronger together. We donate produce to several organizations in Portland and are dedicated to coming up with solutions for how to increase access to high quality vegetables for folks within our community. On farm-gleaning is one solution that we are looking into along with growing crops specifically for organizations that distribute produce to those who are food insecure. During the past several years, our farm has formed a relationship with Growing Gardens and along with delivering them CSA shares which they re-distribute to low-income families, we also grow starts for their gardens program.
Our full time employees will participate in most aspects of the farm including nursery propagation, transplanting, weeding, harvest, wash/pack, irrigation, and all aspects of crop care.
